Hotel Sonne Füssen Germany!

We knew we wanted to go to Füssen to see the beautiful town and use it as a base to visit Neuschwanstein Castle. We searched for accommodation and found an absolute gem! Hotel Sonne is the best hotel in Füssen, let me tell you why!

The hotel (best hotel in Füssen!)

The hotel is perfectly located right in the heart of Füssen, with easy access to the train and bus stations and visitor centre which is extremely convenient. The town is walkable and the main street is a stroll from the entrance of Hotel Sonne.

As soon as you enter the foyer you realise that you are in a unique place, not your ordinary hotel. Tastefully styled with a quirky art deco decor, there is something interesting to look at in every room. It feels decadent and a step back in time but with all the modern conveniences you expect, it is a true blend of tradition and modernity. Every consideration is taken ensuring each guest is catered for, you really feel the individual attention from the check in. A very simple process with friendly and attentive staff.

Each room has a different theme and décor to match, we stayed in the only room on the 5th floor! Like our own penthouse suite which could be accessed via private stairs from the 4th floor or the elevator directly to the 5th, it was super fun to go into the elevator and see all the options with just us on the top floor!

Styled with beautiful art deco décor, a beautiful wallpaper and chic accessories. There were separate bathrooms, bath tub, a ridiculously comfortable bed, a sitting area and the cutest little balcony overlooking the town and the old castle.

To say that we were in heaven was an understatement! Equipped with everything we could possibly need to be comfortable it was just perfect! The styling felt luxurious and decadent as did the plush towels and robes.

I had to take advantage of the ultimate luxury and take a long bath in our room, such an indulgence to enjoy a relaxing soak to cap off a perfect day.

We spent hours out on the balcony watching the life of the town and admiring the castle, even taking our dinner out on to the table there to enjoy. We ordered room service from the onsite RIWA Restaurant, selecting the local dish flamm which is similar to pizza and delicious with some fries on the side.

The Wellness Oasis

Our absolute favourite feature of Hotel Sonne is also one of its most unique, the incredible Wellness Oasis! There are actually 2 areas, a fitness centre with exercise equipment and the Wellness Oasis. We loved this experience, the perfect escape from the cold and rainy weather outside. The oasis has a series of different rooms, each themed for your ultimate relaxation. The space includes a Moroccan inspired Bedouin tent sitting lounge, a full Mediterranean steam sauna and large Orient Oasis complete with relaxation room with large beds and hanging chairs.

We spent a good few hours here in the sauna, lounges and left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. You can order massages and beauty treatments if you want full and ultimate relaxation! This is such a special and unique experience and so very special to find. For me this is really cements Hotel Sonne as the best hotel in Füssen.

Breakfast

One of our favourite things is a good buffet breakfast and the one that Hotel Sonne provides is nothing short of exceptional! What would you expect from the best hotel in Füssen?

The restaurant is beautifully designed featuring the same art deco eccentric style that is carried throughout the hotel. The food and presentation is of a high quality. From breads, pastries, cakes meats, cheeses, hot vegetables, you will want for nothing. There is a wide selection of juices, coffee and tea available, this was one of the best buffet breakfasts we have ever found in a hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble!

We absolutely loved our time at Hotel Sonne and could have spent much longer here. It is definitely the best place to stay when visiting Fussen and Neuschwanstein Castle. Hotel Sonne really is the best hotel in Füssen!
