2026 Update
We stayed at Aerotel Singapore in 2025, before the property’s management transition in June 2026. Our review below reflects our personal experience during that stay. Facilities, room types, inclusions, pricing and service may have changed, so we’ve updated the practical information where possible. We’ll continue to distinguish between what we personally experienced and current hotel information.

Where is the Changi Transit Hotel Terminal 1 located?
Located in Terminal 1 and my favourite part of a Changi Airport layover, is the Changi Transit Hotel Singapore. You’ll see signs directing you to the swimming pool, follow those and head up to the 3rd floor. The Changi Transit Hotel Terminal 1 is on the air side so you’ll need to be staying in transit, or like us travelling with Singapore Airlines. We landed with 16 hours between flights and as we were flying out with Singapore Airlines we were able to exit through immigration and then check back in, re-entering transit. If you are not flying Singapore Air then don’t leave transit until it is time for your check in to be open as you can’t get back through.
Is the Changi Transit Hotel Terminal 1 hotel worth it?
For a long layover we think Changi Transit Hotel Terminal 1 is worth considering, particularly if your priority is getting proper sleep and a shower without leaving Changi Airport. We had a 16 hour transit and found having a private room dramatically more comfortable than spending the entire night in an airport terminal. The Changi Transit Hotel Terminal 1 is luxurious and comfortable, making your transit a breeze. We checked in and found ourselves in the most comfortable room, perfect beds, charging ports and amenities like tea and coffee to really recharge.
Singapore Transit Hotel is worth it if you:
- have a 6+ hour layover
- have an overnight connection
- want a proper bed
- want a shower
- want to remain airside
- have an early morning flight
- don’t want to enter Singapore
May NOT be worth it if you:
- have only 2–3 hours
- want to leave the airport
- want to explore Singapore
- already have lounge access and only need somewhere to sit
- are travelling on a very tight budget

For our 16-hour layover, we would choose Aerotel again.
Facilities
There is a library with tea, coffee and cookies to snack on. The library is a lovely quiet space to relax, there is a large TV here and tables or lounges to sit at.

You also have access to the pool! There is a pool complete with spa and pool bar to sit and relax or take a swim. Buy a cocktail or beer and enjoy the chilled out vibes while watching the sky above you. This is the ultimate refresher from your flight!

Complimentary Meal
At the time of our stay our room came with a complementary meal, we just ordered and then wait in the library to be served. I have heard however that the hotel has changed hands and this may no longer be included. For our stay Mike selected fish, chips with salad which was all fresh, crunchy and complemented by the tastiest tartare sauce of his life. I was able to choose from multiple gluten free options, selecting a delicious chicken, rice and vegetable bake in a creamy sauce, it was a flavour sensation! In the morning a light breakfast of cereals and toast is served in the library as well.

Our Room
Our room in Changi Transit Hotel Terminal 1 was the perfect blend of serene luxury and function. The beds were plush and comfortable. Falling into them and drifting off to a deep sleep it was hard to remember that we were only in transit, I felt like I was in a resort already. Our window overlooked the runway and we could watch the planes taxing to take off and landing.

The bathroom was a spa like retreat which was a dream after a long flight! We were able to completely refresh and feel alive again after a lovely hot shower! All required amenities were included and we didn’t find ourselves missing anything.

We highly recommend Changi Transit Hotel Terminal 1 for any transit in Changi Airport, we had the most relaxing time and it really set us up well for the rest of our trip home. Waking up in the morning and just checking out and walking to our gate was so simple! The staff were incredible, so friendly and helpful we can’t wait to return!
