What’s Included in the Cachasol Tequila Tour?
This is one of the best value tours in the Sayulita area, the inclusions are not only well thought out but of a very high quality. We really loved this experience and think it was one of the best things we did in Sayulita.
Learning About Agave
Our tour started with a margarita sitting at the outdoor bar under some big trees, it was a perfect moment.

Then follows an introduction of the farm and agave plants. Learning about the different types and age of the plants, which all plays a role in the finished product was interesting. We also learnt about the difference between tequila vs raicilla.

Traditional Distillation Process
Next up we learnt about the distillation process, this was incredibly interesting. We saw the underground roasting area and handcrafted stills. I was amazed that this is how they distill the racillia and loved learning about it. This is a literal field-to-glass production process that feels authentic and natural in its landscape.

Guided Tequila & Raicilla Tasting
We moved to the dining area and took part in a guided tequila tasting. Given the tasting notes and instructions we worked our way through 3 different types of Cachasol tequila and learnt how to appreciate them properly.

Farm-to-Table Meal
The final portion of the tour was a farm to table meal prepared in an open-fire kitchen with fresh ingredients. There was guacamole to start, ceviche during the tasting and a final delicious meal with dessert. The food portion was some of the best we have tasted in our Mexican travels and they were easily able to accommodate both my coeliac and seafood allergies. We sat around the table with the other guests and chatted about the experience and our lives. It was a truly memorable moment and felt so wholesome and warm.

What Makes Cachasol Different From Other Tequila Tastings?

What You Learn on the Cachasol Tequila Tour
Here you will actually learn production process rather than just hear about, you see it in action. I was amazed by the care and attention that goes into the handcrafted distilling process. This is a truly handcrafted product, we were even able to taste the flavours of the agave as it changes through the distilling process.
Food-focused experience
The culinary aspect of the tour at Cachasol was also more authentic and of a higher quality than at typical tastings. Usually you are given a quick snack, however here you are served a wholesome meal cooked by local people and the heart shines through. That is the feeling you get from not only the food, but the liquor they produce and every person you come in contact with. They work and lead with the heart.

Cachasol vs Other Tequila Tastings Near Sayulita
There are some other tequila tastings that you can go and visit around Sayulita however we did not bother, especially after visiting Cachasol Tequila Farm. After looking at the other options we felt like it would be a complete let down as we had such an incredible quality experience at Cachasol. There was a genuine and warm atmosphere, not cheesy or gimmicky. The location was very easy and quick to get to and the tasting and food quality was of such a high quality that anything else by comparison would feel inauthentic.

What Is Raicilla?
Raicilla is a regional agave spirit, which is lesser-known than tequila but by no means less in taste. It is a traditional Nayarit/Jalisco drink that is kind of like tequilas cool cousin, known to those ‘in the know’.
It differs from tequila and mezcal by using more diverse agave species, and artisanal production in Jalisco. The flavour is more aromatic than tequila and less smokey than mezcal, leaning slightly earthy or botanical.
Pricing, Booking & Practical Info
Each tour takes ~90 minutes and includes a meal, tequila tasting and 2 cocktails. They can accommodate dietary needs, I have a seafood allergy and am coeliac and was able to join in at all stages. The price is $100 USD and is absolutely worth every cent. We definitely recommend booking as early as possible to get your preferred session, the tours run at 1pm or 5pm.

These are our best tips to make the most of this perfect tasting experience:
- Book a taxi to get home or have a designated driver
- You will be happily full after the meal so arrive hungry
- There is a little walking so wear comfortable shoes
