Theva Residency is the best hotel in Kandy. A beautiful hotel tucked in the hills above Kandy with incredible views. We were lucky enough to stay here and it was the perfect paradise away from the frenzy of the city.

The location

We arrived from Dambulla in our tuk tuk. As we wound our way up the hilly roads leading to Theva we were wondering if we were driving to the sky. Each twist and turn took us higher into the hill and the views became more magical. Approaching Theva Residency we were welcomed by the beautiful grounds and the friendliest security guard who helped us park our tuk tuk!

On arrival we were welcomed with fresh juices on the deck while the guest services manager checked us in. We were shown the features of the suite and left with a warm greeting.

The room

Theva Residency is the best hotel in Kandy and the rooms are perfect! The space was beautifully presented, the bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was really unique, the toiletries were ayurvedic and the waterfall shower fell on to a floor surrounded by pebbles making it feel like an outdoor shower.

There was a spa located right near the windows that over looked the hills of Kandy. This was a spectacular feature. The wall to wall, ceiling to floor windows were large enough to capture the best of the views.

We spent hours here watching the sunset and the light over the hills. It was incredible. The room was complete luxury and I would have happily spent a week there.

The facilities

We ventured out only for food and to relax by the pool. The pool area was lovely! There were deck chairs to sun your self and umbrellas for when it got a little hot. The infinity pool was the perfect spot to cool off and soak up the view from the edge. The gardens around the hotel are beautiful are lovely full of orchids and bougainvillea.

The restaurant

The restaurant is excellent, our breakfast consisted of omelette and eggs on toast, fresh fruit, a selection of toasts and danish complete with in-house made jams and spreads. Tea, coffee and fresh fruit juices were served quickly to complement the meal. Breakfast on the deck in the warm morning sun was set off perfectly by the views across the sprawling hills.

The service at Theva Residency was incredible. Theva Residency really is the best hotel in Kandy. Friendly and personable they catered to any need. Happy to chat about history of the country, teach us how to pronounce some words in Singala and point us in the right direction for our days exploration.

We honestly thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon to enjoy this special place again soon. Theva Residency is honestly the best hotel in Kandy.
