Spending some time in Amalfi? This is what we did in our day trip to from Sorrento. Check out all our blogs on the Amalfi Coast to help you plan your trip! We used the SITA bus for our day trip, you can also use the ferries which is more scenic.

Where is Amalfi?
Amalfi is on the Amalfi Coast line right near to the popular destination of Positano. It is most commonly either visited on day trips from Positano or used as a base to discover the area. There are some great towns nearby that are really worth visiting also!

These are the best options we can find for accommodation in Amalfi. We use a combination of great reviews, price points and location to determine the best picks!
Budget: Amalfi Coast Room, Vista d’ Amalfi, Casa Mao,
Midrange: Terrazza Duomo, Albergo S. Andrea, Hotel Marina Riviera
Luxe: Amalfi Resort, Amalfi Luxury House, Love and Passion Amalfi, Zia Pupetta Suites
Walk the town and find pretty views and details
There are many vantage points here! I love walking new towns and finding great views and pretty details.
The Duomo di Sant’Andrea Cathedral
This is an iconic site. It has a unique striped design and sits at the top of approximately 62 steps. You can access the steps and the outer area for free or pay 3€ to enter the cathedral and look around.
Walk around to Atrani
Atrani is the cutest little village. You can take the bus there or do what we did and walk. You have to walk along the road. A bit scary when busses and cars pass by, particularly in the tunnel. It is a lovely walk though and you’ll see the houses on the cliff face well. There is a really nice little restaurant as you go along too which is great for lunch or a cold drink.
Saint Andrew’s Fountain
Located in the main square this is an iconic fountain that locals and tourists fill their water bottles or drink from. It is a meeting point for most people, just out front of the Cathedral. The statue is of Saint Andrew with some Nymphs and cherubs.
Museo della Carta
A very good museum to the art of papermaking. You will find paper stores all throughout the town and this is an interesting walk through the history.
Buy lemon souvenirs
There will be lemon souvenir stores everywhere and they are worth a look in. We loved browsing to see all the pretty designs and picked up a few things to bring home.
Chiostro del Paradiso
I wish we had time to visit Chiostro del Paradiso. They are beautiful and I really wanted to see it for myself. It was built in 1266 and is translated to the Cloisters of Paradise. It features 120 columns, a garden & religious artifacts.
Buy a lemon sorbet
These lemon sorbet stores are everywhere and they are delicious! You can buy the freshest most delicious lemon sorbet in an actual lemon.
Day on the beach, boat or touring villages!
There are lovely beaches and excellent boat tours you can take. Small towns nearby to visit like Ravello, Praiano and Maiori are great to visit. There are many tour options you can take, we always choose Get Your Guide and have never been disappointed!
We loved our time here, it was the perfect day trip for us. I can imagine it would be a great place to stay and see other close by towns and villages from. If you have any questions we are happy to help! Just leave them in the comments below.
