Visiting the Amalfi Coast is one of the best experiences of my life! I wasn’t sure it would live up to its reputation but it was as perfect as I had hoped for. This is my perfect 5 day Amalfi Coast Itinerary!
Where to stay?
This will depend on your budget, If you can afford to stay in Positano or Amalfi then I would do this. It will make your transit time much shorter but you don’t have to. You can stay in Sorrento and still see everything. If you are staying in Sorrento this is where I recommend. We stayed there and loved it, it was really easy to get to and from here.
How to organise your 5 day itinerary for the Amalfi Coast-
Day 1 – Sorrento
Sorrento is much more than a transit location. It has a beautiful unique waterfront. There are little huts all lined up on the pier to swim from are so cute. There are fabulous food options and a great secluded swimming spot to walk out to if you are looking to go on an adventure. Read all about what to do in Sorrento.
Day 2 – Positano
You probably came to the Amalfi Coast with Positano in mind so go see it straight away! That way if you miss out on anything you still have time to go back and catch it. If you are staying there then you can spend as much time as possible from early morning to late evening enjoying the town. If you are coming from Amalfi or Sorrento get the first bus there and maximise your time. I go in to detail on what to do in Positano.
Day 3 – Amalfi and Ravello
I would start my third day on the Amalfi Coast in Ravello then go to Amalfi for the afternoon (or vice versa). They are not too far apart and the bus will take you to both. Ravello has beautiful villas that you can pay to go into. They have stunning views and beautiful gardens to walk around. They are about 8 euro to get in. The most famous are Villa Cimbrone and VIlla Rufolo. You can even stay at Villa Cimbrone which would be incredible!
In Amalfi you will want to stroll the main streets and take in all the lemon souvenirs, lemon sorbet and pretty views you can absorb! There is a unique church right in the centre which is definitely worth looking at. I would spend the afternoon walking around to Atrani. This cute little town is just around the corner from Amalfi and is super cute. The walk there is so pretty and worth it just for that. There is a nice restaurant half way where you can stop for dinner on the way back or catch the bus from Atrani.
Day 4 – Capri
My gosh Capri leaves me speechless when I try to describe it. I honestly nearly didn’t go thinking it would be overhyped and too expensive. It was our sweetest day in the Amalfi Coast. The ferry ride over there was so easy and comfortable. We spend the day visiting each little village and as many beaches as we could fit in. Capri in a day trip is a lot to fit in so if you have extra days and want to stay overnight here I think it would be amazing! If not, get ready for a busy day. You can read all about what we did on our day trip in our Capri Blog.
Day 5 – Choose your favourite place to return to or spend 2 days at one of them.
This is kind of like a free choice day. If there is any opportunity to spend a night at Capri or Positano I would do that and use this extra day there. Otherwise we used it to go back to Positano and really soak it up.
This is how I would organise my 5 day itinerary for the Amalfi Coast. If you want to read more about each location I have linked the detailed blogs in each section or you can view them all here. We adored our time exploring the Amalfi Coast and I can’t wait to return soon! Of course if you have more time you can definitely spend it there as well, leave a comment below or message us on Instagram @kelly___buckley or @passport_nomads and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have!
