Located directly on the sand in the quieter north side of Sayulita, Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel manages to strike the perfect balance between peaceful beachfront relaxation and easy access to town. We could walk to cafes, taco stands, surf spots and sunset drinks within minutes, while sleeping peacefully at night away from the loudest nightlife streets.
What really stood out to us was the atmosphere. The huge beachfront pool, ocean views, relaxed design and genuinely friendly vibe made it feel more like a tropical home base than just a hotel. It was also one of the most digital nomad friendly stays we found in Mexico, with reliable wifi, comfortable rooms and plenty of spots to work overlooking the beach.

If you want a beachfront hotel in Sayulita that is walkable to town but quieter at night, with a huge pool, fast wifi and direct beach access, Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel is one of the best value stays in town. It combines a relaxed boutque atmosphere with one of the best beachfront locations in Sayulita, making it ideal for couples, digital nomads and travellers wanting a quieter stay without being far from the action.
About The Hotel
Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel is located directly on the sand at the main beach of Sayulita. Although it is a large hotel it has a friendly boutique feel with that boho aesthetic. The pool is huge, curving along the property with a beachfront area that includes a swing. There are sun beds around the pool and seating in the sand, there is more than enough room for everyone!
The northern side of Sayulita main beach is a great surf break location and quieter than other areas, especially at night when it is most important. It is also perfectly walkable to the main town area, we easily walked there in a couple of minutes.
Although Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel is not an all inclusive hotel it does offer a simple toast and coffee breakfast included in your booking. You can serve yourself as much as you like from the beachfront restaurant area and if you want something more substantial then there are paid offerings that would please anyone.
This hotel has a more authentic atmosphere and local boho feel. The vibrant pink and turquoise colours, lush green landscaping and beach views remind you that you are in Sayulita!
Where Is Azul Pitaya In Sayulita?
Located on the north side of Sayulita on a great surf beach you can walk directly to the sand for breakfast or into town in under a couple of minutes. It is incredibly quiet at night for such a walkable and central location. You absolutley do not need a golf cart here! Sayulita is known to be noisy at night but we can honestly say due to its location Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel is the quietest and best positioned hotel in Sayulita.
Why We Think Azul Pitaya Is Better Than Staying Downtown
Azul Pitaya is better than staying downtown due to its quiet but walkable, incredible location. The hotel is walkable to everywhere in town you will want to go but also really quiet at night. In central downtown Sayulita the hotels experience loud nights from the many bars, resautanrat and golf carts, scooters and taxis driving around the streets.
Azul Pitaya is located on a quiet stretch of beach only about 2 minutes walk to central Sayulita but a world away from the busy noisy streets. It really is a quiet retreat from the busy centre. This location is better for a romantic couples trip, a remote work digital nomad work set up needs and families who value quiet nights.
Its location on the north side of Sayulita sounds like it is far away but it really isn’t at all, it is one of the quiet hotels in Sayulita, a 2-minute walk away from all the action. It really is perfect.
Azul Pitaya vs Other Hotels in Sayulita
Many hotels in Sayulita struggle with the noisy nights due to the location in downtown. Other compaints we saw were the need for golf carts as the hotel was further out of town, slow wifi, tiny pools, cramped rooms and bad beach access or not at all close to the beach.
Azul Pitaya solves all of these issues, its perfect beachfront location takes you to the sand within minutes of leaving your room. The nights are so peaceful all you hear is waves lapping the sand, it is so close to the centre of Sayulita you don’t need a golf cart at all, wifi is fast and the rooms and pool are huge! Honestly there is nothing we could fault, it was a fantastic stay, especially compared to other options we looked at.
What We Loved About Staying Here
There was a lot to love about staying at the Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel, these were our favourite things.
Beachfront Location
You can’t beat this location. Right on the beach with chairs in the sand just calling for you to sit and people watch. The direct sand access straight out to a swimming and surfing beach. The beach chairs and umbrellas are perfect during the day and then fall asleep to the sound of waves at night. Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel is ON the beach!
The Huge Pool
The pool at Azul Pitaya is incredible! It is huge, curving through the property and ending in a beachfront semi circle overlooking the beach. The pool is heated and has a relaxing vibe and chilled out atmosphere. There are sun beds all around, plenty for everyone.
Quiet But Close To Everything
Sayulita is known for being noisy at night and many people find themselves booking a central hotel and are then unfortunately kept up at night with noise. You will not have this problem at Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel! Although it is both on the beachfront and quite central it is almost silent at night, you will only hear the waves on the sand. Is that not the perfect vacation sound to fall asleep to?!
Fast WiFi + Digital Nomad Friendly
Being travel bloggers and vloggers we work remotely often and Azul Pitaya is perfectly set up for digital nomads in Sayulita. There is excellent super fast and free WiFi. The fiber optics with synchronous speeds make working remotely in Sayulita easy and you can do it from a beachfront work setup. Finding reliable wifi is something we really appreciate.
Room Tour + What To Expect
Each room at Azul Pitatya Beachfront Hotel is really similar. They all have a king sized and very comfortable bed. The rooms are huge, more like a fully equipped apartment. The balcony is big as well with a table and chairs, we were lucky enough to get a room where the balcony was overlooking both the pool and the beach. It was idyllic having a drink while watching the waves rolling ashore below.
There was a big bathroom with all necessities provided and a safe and kitchenette with everything needed to make a simple meal or keep snacks cold in the small fridge. The air-conditioning was excellent and daily housekeeping kept our room spotless. The staff here are so friendly and kind, there is complementary cool or hot water available in the lobby to fill your waterbottle.
Who This Hotel Is Best For
This hotel is the perfect stay for couples looking for a relaxing getaway and digital nomads who need to work while exploring the area. Surfers who want a good break or those who want to learn how to surf. Families who want a comfortable stay and anyone who wants a longer stay as you can cater for yourself if required.
Who should stay elsewhere
This is not the choice for anyone wanting an ultra luxury stay, all-inclusive travellers or hardcore party seekers. The hotel is really clean, comfortable and well maintained but it is not the $1000 a night all-inclusive luxury accommodation or a hotel where you would be wanting to drink and party all night.

What The Beach Is Like
The beach at Sayulita is swimmable with small waves. This makes it a great Sayulita surf break beach. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed. You can watch sunset from here and sunrise. There are beach clubs nearby to relax at, but honestly I would just stay in the hotel beach chairs and eat at the restaurant, it is so comfortable.
The water in all of Sayulita is from the Pacific Ocean so it is not the Caribbean clear blue colour, more of a darker blue/slight brown colour. This is normal for all Pacific Ocean beaches along the Riviera Nayarit. There is also a lot of bird life to watch on the water!
Breakfast + Food Options
There is a simple breakfast included with all rooms at Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel consisting of toast and tea/coffee. This is all we ever need to get our day started. Sitting having a light breakfast on the beach with our feet in the sand was heaven, especially in the stillness of the morning.
There is a beach restaurant on site with a full breakfast menu so if you would like to order something more substantial then you absolutely can. We saw a lot of delicious food and drink being delivered to seats near us.
Honest Things To Know Before Booking
These are our best tips to know before booking:
- Sayulita beach can be busy, this hotel is a little further along in the quieter area.
- Sayulita isn’t luxury Cancun. Sayulita has a more boho atmosphere and smaller town feel, we loved this but it is not the full touristic feel of Cancun.
- The best time to book is between Nov-May for clearer warm water, ocean conditions vary and you may have worse weather outside this period.
- There are stairs & sandy areas to walk on around the hotel, which could be difficult for some, however there is an elevator to get to the upper floors and paths to stick to also.
Is Azul Pitaya Worth It?
Yes Azul Pitaya is totally worth it! We think it is the best value and quality hotel in Sayulita. When you compare other options in the same price range they are not on the beach, you risk a noisy night and often the quality of the room and grounds is not that great. At Azul Pitaya you are getting an excellent location, quiet nights and very comfortable, quality rooms. We really honestly think it is high value and absolutely worth it!
Best Things To Do Near The Hotel
There is a lot you can do near to Azul Pitaya Hotel including:
- Take a Marietas Islands tour – we only had to walk a short way to the main street for our collection point.
- Our Sayulita itinerary is full of things to do only a minutes walk from Azul Pitaya!
- Take a San Pancho day trip, the bus station is a short walk away.
- Jump in a taxi and head out to the most memorable experience we had in Sayulita, this tequila tasting at a distillery is our favourite thing to do in Sayulita.
- Surf lessons are a must and can be done right on Sayulita main beach. Then rent a board and practise in front of the hotel.

Absolutely! Azul Pitaya is perfect for families as rooms are spacious and there is a lot of outdoor areas near the beach for children to spread out. The nights are quiet, perfect for families to get the rest you need on a holiday.
Is Sayulita safe?
Sayulita is safe and even more so during the day. I would use my usual travel safety precautions and be away of my valuables in case of pick pocketing or opportunistic petty theft.
Is the wifi good at Azul Pitaya?
The wifi is great at Azul Pitaya, we had no issues accessing wifi on the property.

We think that Azul Pitaya Beachfront Hotel is the perfect choice of accommodation for any travellers coming to Sayulita. Families will love the location and space, couples will find the pool and beachfront location romantic, surfers will love the access to the beach and digital nomads will have the most incredible work setup. The best feature for us was the comfortable rooms, quiet nights and walkable location. We couldn’t find a downside that affected us at all!
We would absolutely stay here again and can’t wait to return to do so. Azul Pitaya Beach front Hotel is THE place to stay in Sayulita and feel like you are there.
