We were excited to visit Bern, Switzerland and explore the beautiful historic city. We were looking for a hotel with history and culture. Somewhere that felt as charming as Bern and a place that would know the best way to see the city.
Luckily we stayed at Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz. The best hotel in Bern! From the moment we entered we were treated like old friends or family.
Location and getting around
Conveniently located close to the train station we walked quickly to the hotel and were greeted by the first of many very friendly and helpful staff members. The hotel is also located right in the centre of Bern, everything you want to see is within an easy walk. There is also a convenient tram and bus system that runs throughout Bern.
Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz gave us the Bern card which allowed free transport across the city and either free or discounted entry to attractions! It made getting around so much easier
Check in at Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz
The best place to stay in Bern!
Check in was easy. I had pre-entered information online, we were given our keys and tips on what to see around the city!
From our first moments at Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz we were excited to see as much of Bern as possible.
Our room in Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz
The best place to stay in Bern!
Our room was styled in very contemporary cosy vibe! I loved the very cute accent pillows with symbols of the Swiss flag and Bern! The bed was huge and incredibly comfortable with all the furnishings we needed for a pleasant stay. A lounge chair to relax. A desktop work which was very useful for me as I’m always working on the go!
Our bathroom was just as comfortable. Impeccably clean there was a bath/shower, heated towel rack and big vanity to spread out things out.
The view over to the old city with Parliament House was so quaint, we just loved it.
The Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz is committed to sustainability and everywhere you can see efforts towards this. The cute reusable ceramic cups in the bathroom styled to look like throwaway cups were very cool. A water bottle there to purchase for your use, great as a souvenir, particularly if you forget your own!
Breakfast
Breakfast is available on the ground floor. It is a cafe style buffet set up with all the breakfast items you could want! Both hot and cold foods, a great range of fresh fruits and yoghurt. A huge bread and spreads selection and gluten free on request! It was the perfect way to start a day in a beautiful city. There was a lovely staff member on hand to assist you and who kept everything immaculately tidy and topped up! The attention to detail around guest needs here is second to none
Coffee and guest care
Coffee is available and we could help ourselves at anytime throughout the day. The machine easily accessed in the breakfast area, what a treat! The coffee was excellent and such a kindness that most hotels don’t offer.
It was raining in the afternoon as we were heading off to explore. We were immediately offered an umbrella. The staff here are so kind and really pay attention to their guests needs.
Gym
A gym is located on the second floor, it is fully equipped with cardio and weights set up. It is clean and really inviting if you like to stay in routine while on holiday.
Lounge
In front of the hotel is a lovely lounge area. Perfect if you want to sit outside with a drink and relax people watching or chatting with friends. It really extends the warmth and genuine care of the hotel. Before you even enter it you can tell it is a special place.
Final thoughts
With its excellent location, charming wholesome aesthetic and the lovely, welcoming staff the Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz is the perfect place to stay in Bern! The whole hotel was of a high quality and the attention to detail and guest care is beyond expectation.
Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz is an excellent choice for your stay in Bern, say hi to them from Passport Nomads, we hope to come back and visit soon!
We were lucky enough to be hosted by Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz during our stay but as always all opinions are our own. We only work with partners that we love and have stayed with ourselves. You can be sure that we stand behind our reviews.
