Landhuis Chobolobo – a must visit on Curacao

by Kelly

Landhuis Chobolobo is a must visit on Curuacao! Home of the famous Blue Curacao spirit, we loved tasting… and learning about its origin.

We knew we had to visit Landhuis Chobolobo and see the Blue Curacao distillery! We love a cocktail and visiting the home of one of my favourite ingredients was a must. I am so glad we did, it was a great afternoon!

Where is Landhuis Chobolobo?

Easy to get to only a short drive or bus ride from Willemstad. You can jump on the bus and get off right at the front gate! It is in a beautiful old plantation house, painted bright yellow so you can’t miss it. The grounds are lovely as well.

Which is the best tour at Landhuis Chobolobo?

We loved our Deluxe Guided Tour which also included 2 cocktails! We really liked that we were able to choose which cocktails we wanted to taste as well.

There is also a cocktail making class which I would definitely do next time! It looked like a lot of fun and it would be great to learn from the best!

What was the tour like at Landhuis Chobolobo?

We arrived and checked in at the counter booth. The staff were so lovely we knew we were going to have a good time.

The tour started promptly and we were taken through to the production area where there was historical information and old equipment to view.

We learnt about the origin of Blue Curacao and how it came to be. It is still made by hand which we think is just incredible! We saw the original brewing tanks, distillation process and evolution of the bottles that created the unique shape of the Blue Curacao. Our guide was very entertaining and inclusive. We all felt at ease and looked after.

Tasting and Cocktails

At the end of the tour we were given samples of their newest creations! We tasted the triple sec, green curaçao, as well as the flavoured liquors – tamarind, chocolate and rum and raisin. They were all delicious and I can imagine making some fun cocktails with all of them.

We decided on our cocktails, Mike went with a Chobolobo Mudslide and blue lagoon while I chose the blue colada and mango madness. We really enjoyed all of them, honestly I could have gone back everyday to taste the whole menu!
