Bike Rental Palm Springs

by Kelly

Bike rental in Palm Springs is a must do activity, especially if you want to see as much as possible. We rented E-Bikes from Big Wheel Tours and spent the day cycling around finding every colourful door and mid century modern home we could!

Best Bike Rental Palm Springs

The best place for bike rental in Palm Springs is definitely Big Wheel Tours! They offer not only excellent bike hire but you can also take a Palm Springs bike tour or Palm Springs Indian Canyons Bike and Hike with them! What better way to get to know an area than from locals.

Our Bike rental Experience

With Big Wheels Tours we had the easiest bike rental experience ever! We grabbed a couple of E-Bikes, we hadn’t ridden them before but were keen to give it a go. Meeting up with the team at Big Wheels, conveniently located in Downtown with an excellent range of bikes made the experience so simple. There was a colour and a style for everyone. After consulting with the staff Mike took the Flyer Cruiser, while I loved the Flyer Cruiser Step Thru. They were both the perfect choices for us. We got a lesson on how to use them properly and were on our way.

Why hire bikes when you can walk or drive?

Honestly there is no comparison! While Palm Springs consists of a main tourist street there is so much more to see than just Palm Canyon! You couldn’t walk all of the neighbourhoods to look for the coolest mid century modern houses or colourful doors. It would take forever!

Driving is great for those must do activities in Greater Palm Springs or Cathedral City but you won’t want the hassle of parking or stopping every few meters because you found a cute house! We had a car and didn’t use it for anything in the actual Downtown area of Palm Springs.

Cycling is really the absolute best way to see Palm Springs and everything it has to offer! It is also a LOT of fun! We had the best day on our e-bikes and will definitely do it again next time we are there.

Where to cycle Palm Springs

Las Palmas and Tennis Club Neighbourhoods

We wanted to check out as many of the cool houses as possible. We headed straight for Dennys to fuel up for breakfast then off to the Las Palmas neighbourhood. This was one of my favourite areas. It was really pretty and relaxed. We cycled around here for about an hour slowly enjoying the morning.

Slowly we started winding our way south to the Tennis Club neighbourhood which is also full of cool houses to check out. The streets in these areas are wide, open and not very busy! It is the perfect location to get your bearings on your bike and practice riding an e-bike. We grabbed some lunch back on Palm Canyon Drive before carrying on.

Canyon View Estates

Finally we went down to Canyon View Estates which ended up being my overall favourite spot to ride around. Again the streets are wide and safe for riding. The houses are really beautiful and they have the most colourful doors. I loved riding around spotting the next pretty house and picking which was my favourite. Whereas the houses in the other two neighbourhoods were more fenced in and not easy to see this area has a more open feeling. You can often see the doors and the frontage of the house. We spent ages here, cycling around and just having lots of fun together.

In the afternoon there was a free vintage car show so we cycled back into Downtown for this, it was great! We locked our bikes up and went to check out the cars. They were stunning and in perfect condition! It was a cool event that really suited the vibes of Palm Springs.

The time was up way too quickly as it always is when you are having fun. We rode down to Big Wheels Tours to return our bikes. The staff were ready to take our bikes and after a chat about our day we were off, back on foot and missing the bikes already.

We loved our time with our bikes! It was one of the best things we did in Palm Springs, I can’t imagine a better day. It was just perfect, make sure to check out Big Wheels Tours for your bike hire in Palm Springs, we can’t recommend them more highly!
