Where to stay in Utrecht– Location
The Park Plaza Utrecht is conveniently located close to the train station right on the edge of the biggest square in the town. Utrecht is such a great place to visit, many people only go to the bigger towns in Netherlands but Utrecht is such a gem. We arrived from Amsterdam within half an hour, walking easily to Park Plaza Utrecht and checked in!
Check In
Check in was so simple! The staff member we met was so kind and warm we felt truly welcomed. The foyer area is so cool, the luxe colours and design is so unique. The hotel is design is inspired by the De Stijl Dutch art movement and it is obvious from the moment you walk in. We were checked in quickly and on our way up to our room. They also have online check in, check out available They have a full digital option which saves so much time and really does make your stay so much more convenient!
Our Room
Our room had the same design as the foyer, we entered and felt immediately at ease. The rich luxe colours were calming and the De Stijl design was evident through out the features such as the mirror, artwork and furniture. The huge bed was very comfortable with the most luxurious bed linen.
There was a lounge chair to relax in and a desk where I could set up my laptop to work. We loved the little coffee bar, the De Stijl design was even evident in these details. Park Plaza Utrecht spoiled us with a fruit platter that was so kindly waiting for us!
The bathroom
The bathroom was so fresh and bright. The same De Stijl design flows through here and it is filled with beautiful Elemis bath products.
CUBO Kitchen bar and restaurant
The Park Plaza Utrecht has a great lounge, restaurant and bar. We went to sit in the lounge and have a cocktail at CUBO bar. It is so cool and the atmosphere was so upbeat. There were people already having cocktails and enjoying the scene. Even the cocktail menu were created around the De Stijl style! I chose a Mondrian inspired gin and Mike went with the espresso martini, both were delicious. We grabbed a little table in the corner where we could enjoy our cocktails and people watch. Everyone was enjoying themselves the vibe was contagious! The clientele is mixed younger, older and everyone in between. CUBO is definitely an awesome meeting spot for drinks or a meal in Utrecht!
Breakfast
We LOVE a good breakfast. It is one of the best ways to decide on a hotel if you ask me. If the breakfast is good you know that they care about their guests… the breakfast at Park Plaza Utrecht is great! There were so many options and everything looked clean, fresh and perfectly prepared. The staff were friendly, helpful and really continued the same great service we had experienced throughout our stay. We noticed them stopping to chat to each table briefly, making everyone feel welcome. When I enquired about gluten free options I was brought out specially prepared breads and informed what was safe for me from the buffet. It was so kind of them to be prepared for coeliac guests!
Final thoughts:
We loved our stay at Park Plaza Utrecht, it really is the best place to stay in Utrecht. The proximity to the train station and walkable location for the town itself was great. The service and guest care was exceptional and our room was a dream. Utrecht is such a lovely place to visit and well worth a couple of days to explore when in The Netherlands and Park Plaza Utrecht is the only place to stay there!
