Champagne tasting in Reims
We visited three champagne houses in Reims, Veuve Clicquot, Pommery and Pol Couronne. They were all excellent, these are our experiences at them. We loved our champagne tasting in Reims and highly recommend these!
Pol Couronne
We loved our visit to Pol Couronne. It is the most accessible being located in the centre of Reims! There are no tours as it is a tasting room but the staff and décor are lovely. The rooms are cosy and the champagne is excellent.
We took part in the sabrage tasting, Mike learnt how to open the bottle with a sabre! This is one of the best experiences we had on our trip, a must do. Check out our Pol Couronne champagne tasting experience!
Veuve Clicquot
We visited Veuve Clicquot as it is the most famous of the champagne houses and one we already love! It is such a lovely atmosphere. There are lovely gardens which lead through to a tasting in the gardens or the showroom. You will also find chic merchandise available to purchase.
There is this amazing tour which takes you on a tour and tasting of both of Veuve Clicquot and also a local family winery. It is well reviewed and sounds incredible, it also includes a city tour of Reims and the Cathedral. It would make an awesome day tour!
Pommery
We decided to take a tour at Pommery also. The ticket was 26€ which included a self guided tour of the caves and the tasting of one brut. We checked out the displays in the caves which also hold art installations. The self guided tour led us through the caves which are up to 30m underground. They do get cold so bring a coat! To get your tasting take your ticket to the counter and you will receive the brut, take a seat in the lounge area and enjoy!
You can also purchase a ticket that allows entry to both the Pommery cellars and the Villa Demoiselle for 48€. Or alternatively there is an excellent tour from Get Your Guide which includes a tour of both Pommery and a local family run winery and tastings at both. A guided drive through Reims and a visit to the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims.
